We’re an organization created by Memphis artists to harness the power of art to inspire healing

We recognized the unrealized potential of art as agency to heal, grow and transform. We wanted to share what we’ve learned through our arts practice to show another perspective.

Could we make a film that combined Memphis jookin' and transformative landscapes to help reduce gun violence?

Could we build on the collaboration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Thich Nhat Hanh by bringing walking meditation into a Memphis juvenile detention center to shift the culture towards peace?

Could we create an art installation to transform a homicide site into a place of healing?

From these questions, Grounded took root.
